Connie Joann Behrends

Connie Joann Behrends, 67, of Auburn was born on May 13, 1950 in Humboldt, Nebraska to Ivan and Anna (Casper) Behrends and raised on their farm in southwest Nemaha County.  Connie graduated from Johnson High School and attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln for a period of time.  She worked at various clerical and office assistant positions in Omaha and Auburn until the mid-1980s when her health deteriorated and no longer allowed her to effectively do so.  Connie lived in Auburn until she entered the Good Samaritan Center in 2011.  Even with challenged health she had some wonderful times at Good Sam where she always felt safe and well cared for by a sincere and caring staff.  Among her favorite things to do was baking cookies and other desserts for her friends and family.... gifts her nephews always looked forward to.  Connie also enjoyed visiting with her friends and whenever possible making them laugh and of course doing so right along with them.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Connie passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Auburn having reached the earthly age of sixty-seven years, ten months, and fourteen days. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Connie is survived by her brothers, Arlan Behrends of Wayne, NE; Larry Behrends and his wife Vicki of Greeley, CO; nephews: Bryan Behrends and his wife Emily of Johnson, NE; Travis Behrends and his wife Rachel of Greeley and their children, Ginger, Jonas, Clover and Ravi, along with many friends she met and enjoyed along her journey on this earth.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018, at St. John’s (Stone) Lutheran Church in rural Auburn with Pastor Bill Shaner officiating.  Interment will immediately follow services at the St. John’s (Stone) Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the St. John’s (Stone) Cemetery Fund.
