Alta Louise Horr, age 88, of Dunbar, NE, passed away Wednesday, April 27th at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City, NE. A funeral service for Alta Horr will be held Thursday, May 5, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hall Funeral Chapel in Auburn, NE. burial will follow at the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Brownville, NE.
Viewing and visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Alta Louise (Green) Horr
Alta Louise (Green) Horr daughter of Charles M. Green and Lillie Pearl (Craig) Green was born on April 14, 1928 in Plattsmouth, NE. She was one of nine children born to this union.
Alta was raised down on the river bottom near Nemaha, NE. She attended school in Nemaha thru high school. She was married (but later divorced) Leonard Oldfield. There were three children born to this marriage.
In 1954 Alta was united in marriage to Cyrus Horr they lived in Brownville and in 1964 they moved to Gretna, Nebraska where Cy worked for the Nebraska Department of Roads. In 1988 when Cy retired the couple moved to a home in rural Dunbar. Alta returned to schooling and received her GED the year her daughter Linda graduated college. She helped tag Monarch Butterfly’s for the University of Toronto, Canada for more than forty years. She loved mushroom hunting and fishing and cherished her little Beagle “Bardot.” Cy passed away in February of 1994. Alta continued to live on their acreage near Dunbar staying active by tending to her chickens & Bardot, gathering eggs, making sure the bird feeders were full and mowing seven acres herself until just this last year when her health started to fail.
She was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 and it is there that she passed away having reached 88 years and 13 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Richard Oldfield, five brothers, three sisters, and her husband Cyrus, ex husband Leonard, and one great grandson.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law Alyce Green of Plattsmouth, NE and Marion Green of Ralston, NE; her two daughters Linda Weichel of Powhattan, KS and Pauline Lanus of Omaha, NE; five grandchildren Tina Meyers, Korina Buck, Bobby Stechenfinger, Renee Stechenfinger, Randy Stechenfinger, eleven great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
