Arthur (Bud) Whitaker Obituary
Arthur (Bud) Whitaker, age 77, of Auburn, NE passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 at Bryan LGH West in Lincoln, NE. A memorial service for Bud Whitaker will be held Saturday, July 12, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hall Funeral Chapel in Auburn burial will follow at the Sheridan Cemetery. Military graveside honors provided by American Legion Post #23 and Nebraska National Guard Honor Guard.
There will be no viewing, visitation will be Friday, July 11, from 12 to 8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 at the Funeral Home

Arthur (Bud) L. Whitaker, son of George P. Whitaker and Thelma L. (Hutchins) Whitaker was born on February 27, 1937 in Union, NE. He was one of three children.
Bud grew up in Nemaha County Nebraska where he lived almost all his life. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1956 and was honorably discharged in 1960.
He was married to Mina Boyle on August 22, 1960. To this marriage four children Debbie, Kelley, David and Kristi were born. This union ended and he was later united in marriage to Marlene (Nelson) Zinn on June 13, 1973 in Auburn. To this marriage one daughter Sarah was born.
Bud enjoyed working as a journeyman lineman throughout the Midwestern states in his younger years. He also worked for Cooper Nuclear in Brownville for 18 years before retiring in 1999. Bud was a member of the Auburn American Legion, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and loved horses. For the past several years Bud was a great help to the city of Auburn managing the local oil reclamation center.
Due to sudden illness, Bud entered Bryan LGH West in Lincoln, It is there that on Friday, July 4th Bud passed away having reached the age of 77 years, 4 months, and 7 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, his wife Marlene and step-son Todd Zinn.
He is survived by his children, Debbie Whitaker of Jefferson City, MO. Kelley Huffman (Jerry) of Raymond, NE; David Whitaker of Valley, NE; Kristi Wehland (David) of Firth, NE; Sarah Holroyd (Michael) of Eagle, NE; 10 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends
