Barbara Maud (Bragg) Clayburn, 95, of Lincoln was born on April 26, 1930, in Blue Springs, Nebraska to George Nathan and Mary (Wright) Bragg. She grew to adulthood in Guide Rock and Peru, Nebraska. Barbara was united in marriage to Ansel Erwin Clayburn on June 15, 1951, in Peru, Nebraska. To this union two sons, Kent and Neal, were born.
Barbara graduated with an education degree from Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska and did graduate work at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. She had a career as a classroom teacher working in Seward, Nebraska, Parsons, Kansas and Stockton, California. After retiring from teaching, she was a real estate agent in the Stockton area.
Barbara was a writer published as a newspaper columnist in Stockton, and writing for Nebraskaland Magazine as well as publishing the book Prairie Stationmaster. She was a Lay Speaker in the United Methodist Church serving in Northern California and Arizona after she and Ansel retired there. Barbara was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church most recently Trinity UMC in Lincoln. She was also a member of P.E.O., DKG and the Order of Eastern Star. Barbara passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the Harbour House in Lincoln, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of ninety-five years, seven months, and thirteen days. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ansel Clayburn, son Kent Clayburn, and grandson Evan Clayburn.
Left to mourn her are her son and daughter in law, Neal (Shelley) Clayburn of Lincoln, daughter-in-law Constance Clayburn of Moraga, CA; grandsons: Nate (Caitlyn), Nick (Isabel), granddaughter Alexis (Ernie), 4 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
Graveside Inurnment Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Peru, Nebraska with Dr. Jeff Slater officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to the AB Clayburn Scholarship at the Peru State College Foundation.
