Barbara Kay (Stein) Kehr

Barbara Kay Kehr, 76, of Nemaha, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at her home.  Barbara was born on September 17, 1948, in Sigourney, Iowa to Kenneth and Vivian (Keifer) Stein.  She attended school in Pekin, Iowa graduating in 1967.  Barbara then attended nursing school obtaining her LPN, which she was very proud of.  She especially enjoyed caring for the elderly. 

Barbara married Daniel “Joe” Flahive in Ottumwa, Iowa in 1969.  To this union three children, Angela Marie, Mary Ann, and Michael Joseph were born.  The couple would later divorce.  Barbara was later united in marriage to Virgil Kehr on September 19, 1987, in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  The couple resided in Papillion, Nebraska until moving to a farm near Nemaha, Nebraska in 2004.  Together they enjoyed camping and traveling with their fifth wheel.  Barbara was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Auburn.

Barbara is survived by her children: Angela (Craig) Flahive of Oskaloosa, IA; Mary Ann (Matt) Sarver of Albia, IA; Michael (Heather) Flahive of Albia, IA; step-son David (Tonie) Kehr of Elkhorn, NE; 9 grandchildren; siblings: Terry (Barb) Stein of Carnoustie, PA; Dick (Alice) Stein of Broomfield, CO; Sue (Chris) Agan of Knoxville, IA; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A Private Celebration of Barb’s Life will be held at a later date with inurnment at the Sheridan Cemetery in Auburn, Nebraska.

Memorial contributions may be given to the family’s choice with a later designation.
