Barbara Ann (Keller) Prater, 73, of Rulo, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at her home in Rulo. She was born on August 19, 1952, in Falls City, Nebraska to Charles A. and Cora Belle (Ogden) Keller. Barbara was raised in Rulo and went to grade school in there and high school in Falls City. On February 13, 1970, Barbara was united in marriage to James “Jim” Prater in Falls City, Nebraska. To this union three children, Coreena, Melissa, and Jace were born.
Barbara worked for many years at the Iowa Tribe Bingo, and the meal site, and was also a receptionist. She also worked at Frosty Queen in Falls City. Barbara loved her family and friends dearly. She loved to shop in St. Joseph, Missouri and later in life, she enjoyed playing card and dice games with her family and friends.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Jim Prater of Rulo, children: Coreena Adkins and Toby Teel of Hiawatha, KS; Melissa Coonce and husband Jimmy of Rulo, NE; Jace Prater and Bobbie Popejoy of White Cloud, KS; grandchildren: Cody Guthals of Falls City, Kraig Coonce of Rulo, Jami Coonce of Rulo, Jesse Coonce of Rulo, Peyton Prater of White Cloud, KS; Wrenley Prater of White Cloud, KS; great-grandchildren: Watson Guthals of Falls City, Iris Coonce of Rulo, Jude Purcell of Falls City, and Larissa Coonce of Rulo, her sister Marcia Simmonds and husband Donnie of Falls City, and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Charlie (Sandy) Keller and John Keller, and niece Christina Simmonds.
Graveside Inurnment Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Rulo Cemetery in Rulo, Nebraska with Pastor Jerry Yount officiating. A Celebration of Barbara’s Life will follow at noon on Saturday, November 1, at the Falls City Legion Club in Falls City.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the family’s choice with a later designation.
