Berneda F. Holthus, age 92, formerly of Johnson, NE, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the Belle Terrace Nursing Facility in Tecumseh, NE. A funeral service for Berneda F. Holthus will be held Monday, October 27, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. John’s (Stone) Lutheran Church in rural Auburn, NE. burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, October 26, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hall Mortuary in Johnson, NE.
Obituary for Berneda F. Holthus
Berneda Florence Grable daughter of Julius E. Grable and Ella H. Volker was born on October 1, 1922 in rural Richardson County. She was one of three children born to this union.
Berneda attended school at the Prairie Hill rural school. On April 22, 1947 she was united in marriage to Herman Holthus at Elk Creek, NE. To this marriage three children were born.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran church a member of ELCA. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and loved spending time with her family.
She lived in Johnson, NE for many years until moving to Ridgeview Towers in Tecumseh. Due to illness she entered Belle Terrace and it is there that on Thursday, October 23, 2014 Berneda passed away. She had reached the age of 92 years, and 22 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herman, infant sister Alberta Grable, and one great-grandchild Trenton Lunzmann.
Those left to celebrate her life are her children, Wylie (Deanna) Holthus of rural Johnson, NE; Calvin (Diane) Holthus of Roca, NE; Loralee (Steve) Lunzmann of Johnson, NE; grandchildren, John Holthus, James (Lynn) Holthus, Stacy (Golda) Eldridge, Jeremy (Kristan) Holthus, Ryan (Jackie) Lunzmann, Kristi Lunzmann and fianc'e Benton Daly, great-grandchildren, Berneda, Jacob, Martyna, Chase, Parker, Brayden, Eli, and Kaycee Holthus, Tyson and Tess Lunzmann, sister Sylvia Fass of Auburn, NE; sister-in-law Violet Whitten of Wathena, KS; other relatives and friends.
