Dennis A. Gebers, age 60, of Johnson, NE, passed away, Saturday, August 31 at his home in Johnson, NE. A private committal will take place at Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
OBITUARY
Dennis Allan Gebers was born on April 13, 1953 and went to be with the Lord August 31, 2013. Son of Loren and Inez (Woerlen) Gebers, Dennis had four siblings; sister, Teresa Gebers; brother, Duane & Sandy Gebers; sister, Marcia & Ira Beasterfield; brother Phil & Angie Gebers and many nieces and nephews. He grew up in Johnson, NE and graduated from Johnson-Brock high school in 1971.
He attended Midlands Lutheran College in Fremont and married Cindy Moritz. They went to Golden Valley College in Minneapolis and later Dennis transferred and graduated from Grace College of the Bible in Omaha, NE. He had four children; Rachel, Joshua, Michealia, and Bill. Dennis was a dedicated father, lay minister, pressman, worked with various groups and organizations helping “ his fellow man.”
Dennis married Diane McCain on May 21, 1993. He then added four more children to his extended family; Sonja, Dawn, Joshua, and Sarah, along with four grandchildren, Dennis continued working with group homes and a Drug & Alcohol Recovery House. He and Diane took over a bed and breakfast called “The Kirschke House” and they also had foster children to care for in there home. “ Grandpa” Dennis’s family grew with 12 “grandchildren” and 10 “great-grandchildren.”
Dennis loved God first and foremost in his life and had a strong loyalty and love for his family. He had a “very quick wit humor and a winning smile because he loved “ life.” Dennis enjoyed his relationship with Jesus, nature and beauty, science, and the simple pleasures in life like fishing, reading, and gardening. His greatest joy was to talk to anyone about their relationship to Jesus showing, how one could have the forgiveness and love of Jesus in their life forever.
Dennis and Diane moved to Johnson in November of 2009 to be closer to his mother, Inez. He worked for S.E.N.D.S. in Auburn, adults with disabilities.
Dennis fought the good fight with his health issues for many years and shared the love of Jesus with everyone. He looked forward with extreme anticipation of going “Home” to be with ”The Father.”
He was preceded in death by his father, Loren Gebers. He will be missed very much by his family and friends.
