Donald Smith Obituary

Donald E. Smith, age 72 of Nemaha, NE. Passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Society in Auburn, NE. A funeral service for Donald E. Smith will be held Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hall Funeral Chapel in Auburn, NE. Burial will follow at the Nemaha Cemetery in Nemaha. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post # 23 and the Nebraska National Guard Honor Guard.

Donald Elmer Smith son of Elmer W. Smith and Margaret F. (Grooms) Smith was born on November 1, 1938 in Nemaha, NE. He was one of four children born to this union.
Don was raised in Nemaha and graduated from Nemaha High School in 1957. He worked in a sawmill for three years before enlisting in the U.S. Army. Don served his country honorably and was discharged in 1964.
He went to work for the Campbell Soup factory in Tecumseh where he worked for 31 years. After retiring Don enjoyed gardening and working with wood.
Due to ill health Don entered the Nemaha County Hospital and on March 23, 2011 he was moved to the Good Samaritan Society in Auburn. It is there that on Sunday, June 19, 2011 Don passed away having reached the age of 72 years, 7 months, and 18 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Ed Smith.
Those left to mourn his passing are his brother Herald Smith and wife Sylvia of San Antonio, TX; sister Barbara Edmonds of Auburn, NE; sister-in-law Joan Smith of Auburn, NE; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
