Doris Goltz Loving Mother 69 Years Young
Doris Joan (Voegele) Goltz passed onto Heaven from this earth to be with the heavenly Father on April 25, 2005 in her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Doris, known to her friends and family as Doey, was born on a farm in rural Salem, Nebraska on September 28, 1935. She grew up the eldest of six children where she helped her mother and father with the raising and care of the Voegele family. Doris went to grade school at District 79 called ‘Cornfield College’ in rural Salem until eighth grade. The Voegele family then moved to rural Rulo where Doris graduated from Falls City Sacred Heart in 1953. After high school graduation, she attended college at the College of St. Mary’s in Leavenworth, Kansas and graduated in 1955. She started dating Marvin Goltz in 1956 and was married to him in June 13, 1959. Doris taught school at Fischer School District #27 near Rulo from 1955 to 1962 and raised her family with Marvin where they lived near Fargo with their children of Jeff, Doug, Daniel, and Greg. In 1966, Doris and her family moved to Danville, Virginia where Doris and Marvin had two more children; Julie and Kathy. Doris continued to raise her children being very active at Sacred Heart School in Danville, Virginia. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church Altar Society in Danville and loved to come back to Nebraska every other summer with her immediate family to visit family and friends. In 1978, Doris and her family moved back to Nebraska living on a farm near Rulo. Doris became active in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rulo and also at Falls City Sacred Heart. She was a school board member at Falls City Sacred Heart from 1983 to 1992. She also was a member of Catholic Daughter’s and also the Rulo Altar Society. She started working at the Sacred Heart lunch room in 1983 and became Manager. She was always happy to see the school children and her own grandchildren there everyday where she worked, up until her illness in November 2004. Doris lost her husband Marvin to cancer in 1992 and moved from the Rulo farm to a residence in Falls City in 1998 where she resided until her death. Doris loved to attend various Sacred Heart school activities especially Sacred Heart Irish sporting events. She especially enjoyed when her family would meet at her home every Sunday after Mass. She loved spending time with her immediate family as well as her fifteen grandchildren. She also loved going on camping trips to far away areas with members of her family. She will always be remembered by the school children at Sacred Heart for her warm smile and her divine desserts. Doris loved to do needle point and spent many hours working on her beautiful pieces. She also had a knack for beautiful plants in and outside of her home that seemed to flourish with her care. Doris was a true believer in the Lord and accepted His choice for her to be with Him in Heaven.
