Dorothy Fisher Obituary

Heaven gained the most beautiful flower, Dorothy Marie Fisher; she joined her family in heaven on December 3rd, 2016.  Dorothy was born on August 9, 1930, on a farm west of Rulo, Nebraska. She was one of 10 children born to the late Antone and Dora (Schulenberg) Gerweck.  She attended the Red Brick School in Rulo, Nebraska and later graduated from Falls City High School with the class of 1947.

On May 4, 1949, Dorothy was united in marriage to Lester Fisher at Immaculate Conception Church in Rulo, Nebraska.  She lived her married life on the farm west of Rulo where they farmed and raised livestock.  Lester passed away on August 21, 1986. After his death she moved to Falls City in 1989.  Dorothy worked at the Mini Mall for 5year and retired in 1992.  She then spent her time tending her beautiful flower garden for which she won Yard of the Week.  Dorothy was an extremely gifted seamstress, gardener and crafter.   She enjoyed spending her time with her family, and watching the grandkids play baseball.  Dorothy was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Falls City.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lester Fisher, brothers: Vernon, Leslie, Dale, Jerry and Leonard Gerweck, and sisters: Donna Faller, Marjorie Wittrock, Gertrude Gatz, and Jeanne Gerweck. 

Dorothy is survived by her son: Gary (Margaret) Fisher of Rulo, NE; daughters: Kathy Mumm of Rulo, NE; Pat (Dave) Bauman Verdon, NE; Grandchildren:  Gary (Staci) Fisher of Wilber, NE; Angela Coonce of Falls City, NE; Jennifer Mumm of Falls City, NE; Jason (Tiffin) Bauman of Falls City, NE; Brian Bauman of Lincoln, NE; Great-Grandchildren:  Christopher and Wyatt Coonce, Karsen Fisher, and Jessica Sells; Step Great-Grandchildren:  Trayce Stutheit, Arielle Young, Justin Coonce; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A Private Family Graveside Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Falls City Catholic Cemetery in Falls City, Nebraska.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be given to the Falls City Recreational Fund or to Richardson County Cancer Fund.
