Dorothy E. Sierks, age 84, of Brownville, NE, passed away Wednesday, December 4, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE. A funeral service for Dorothy E. Sierks will be held Saturday, December 7, at 10:00 a.m. at the Hall Funeral Chapel in Auburn, NE. burial will follow at the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Brownville, NE.
Visitation will be Friday, December 6, from 12- 9 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 at the Funeral Chapel.

Dorothy Elizabeth (Shiveley) Sierks was born on March 27, 1929 to Floyd & Georgia (Conover) Shiveley. She was the eldest of 6 children born to this union. After suffering a stroke on December 2nd, surrounded by loving family, she went to be with the Lord on December 4, 2013.
Dorothy graduated from Auburn High School in 1947. She obtained her teaching certificate and taught school in Rural Nemaha County.
On December 24, 1948, she was joined in marriage to John Sierks. In their 65 years together, they celebrated the birth of 6 children, 13 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. Dorothy was a fantastic cook and spoiled all of her family and friends with her delicious noodles, bread, and cinnamon rolls.
Dorothy was a member of Eastern Star, Gideons, and the United Methodist Church. Dorothy was a loving, caring individual who gave love and brought joy to everyone who knew her.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Lois Keene; her brother in laws Charles “Duroc” Moore, Donald “Bud” McMann, Ivan Keene, and Everett Shaw.
Those left to deeply mourn her passing are: her husband John; her children Lonnie (Wanda) Sierks, Myrna (Stan) Brooks, Michele (Bill) Hawkins, Dave (Bonnie) Sierks, Chuck (Kayla) Sierks, and Melissa Sierks. Her grandchildren: Tammy (Kip) Young, Waylon Ross, Josh Sierks, Amanda (Aaron) Drier, Joe (Sheena) Sierks, Terri (Mike) Beneway, Jesse (Julie) Sierks, Amy Sierks, Jill Sierks, Lisa Sierks, Dustin Ross, Kari Sierks, and Chloe Sierks. Her siblings: Esther Moore, Betty McMann, Deloris Shaw, and Donald “Buckshot” (Georgia “Sam”) Shiveley. Special “grandson” Ryan Conn; 10 great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
