Funeral Services: Thursday, February 10, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Peru Community Church, Peru, NE
Clergy: Pastor Edith Bickford, Rev. Ron Croom, and Pastor Valjean Warman
Visitation: Wednesday, February 9, from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hall Funeral Chapel in Auburn. A time of remembering for family and friends will be held Wednesday, February 9, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. also at Hall Funeral Chapel in Auburn.
Commital Service: Mount Vernon Cemetery, Peru, NE Military rights provided by Peru VFW Post 7299, Auburn American Legion Post 23, and 40 & 8.
Ellis Wilse Adams son of Wilse Adams and Lena May (Robbins) Adams was born on August 13, 1919 on the family farm west of Peru, Nebraska. He was one of three children.
Ellis graduated from Peru High School in 1938, and attended Peru State College for one year. He then enlisted into the Army Infantry in March of 1942. He served in WWII in Asia as 1st Lieutenant and was awarded the bronze star and the purple heart and then was honorably discharged January of 1945. Ellis was united in marriage to Corinne Whitfield on October 25, 1940 at Mound City, Missouri. There were six children born to this union. He farmed west of Peru his entire life, until retiring in 1982.
He was an active member of the Masons, Eastern Star, ASC Board, Farm Bureau Board, Good Samaritan Board, Peru VFW, Auburn American Legion, 40 & 8. Ellis enjoyed hunting and the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
His parents, a great-granddaughter, and a sister, Fern Parriott preceded him in death.
Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Corinne of Peru, NE, his six children, Sara Boatman and husband Thomas of Lincoln, NE, Ann Warman and husband Valjean of Fullerton, NE, Nancy Ehlers of Peru, NE, Laura Croom and husband Ronald of Omaha, NE, Michael Adams and wife Kimberly of Morse Bluff, NE, and David Adams of Peru, NE, a sister, Hazel Wagner of Indianapolis, IN, 28 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
