Elsie Lewis Obituary

Elsie Mae (Davidson) Lewis was born November 6, 1934 to Myron “Red” and Lorena Mae (Burrell) Davidson in Yates Center, Kansas.  She grew up and moved with her family residing in Burlington, KS, Omaha and Falls City, NE.   She attended elementary school at Omaha Public School, Falls City Public School and graduated from Sacred Heart High School , she was involved and excelled in drama and cheerleading.  She was a member of the National Honor Society and received many awards for acting and singing.  She had a beautiful voice, singing in area churches for weddings and funerals.  She also loved to sing to her children and grandchildren when they were small.

She was united in marriage to Vern Ray Lewis on September 25, 1955 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Falls City, Nebraska.  To this union three children were born, David, Amy and Patrick.  She and Vern made their home near Shubert where they farmed and raised their family.  Elsie worked as a purchasing manager for Cargill for many years, she was a dedicated employee who took pride in her work. 

After her retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family and planting flowers and shrubs in her flower gardens.  She provided care for her husband Vern Ray for many years when his health began to fail.  Those that were closest to her sometimes thought of her as a Florence Nightingale with a bit of an attitude. 

She passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the age of 83 years. 

Elsie is survived by her three children and their spouses, Vern David Lewis and wife Angie of Falls City;  Amy (Lewis) Hector and husband Tony of Auburn and Patrick Thomas Lewis and wife Kay of Tucson, AZ, grandchildren, Darci Hector Grafton, Auburn, Kara Lewis and significant other Shawn Bean of Los Osos, CA, Chelsea (Lewis) Wittwer and husband Nathaniel of Lenexa, KS, Jacy Lewis of Midland, TX and Austin Lewis of Tucson, AZ; great-grandchildren,  Reese and Quinn Grafton, Marlowe and Sloane Bean and Macklin Wittwer, brother, Myron James “Jim” Davidson and wife Peggy of Falls City, NE, sister, Linda Majerus, Davenport, IA, brother in law Bob Majerus;  many nieces, nephews and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Red and Lorena, sisters, Margaret Ann Fritz, husband Marvin, Norma Adreon and husband Frank, her parent's in law, Vern and Ruby Lewis. 

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2018 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Shubert, NE with Father Thomas Dunavan officiating.

Inurnment will be in the Prairie Union Cemetery, rural Shubert, Nebraska.  

A luncheon and a time of fellowship with the family will follow directly after the graveside at St. Anne's  Parish Hall in Shubert.
