Ernie Glen Aufenkamp, age 68, formerly of Auburn, NE. Passed away Thursday, January 19,2006 in Mission, TX. A Graveside service for Ernie Glen Aufenkamp will be held Monday, January 23, at 4:00 p.m. at the Nemaha Cemetery near Nemaha, NE. He is survived by his former wife Josephine Aufenkamp of Anchorage, AK; children Mary Jo Aveoganna and special friend Brent Jacobs of Barrow, AK; Roberta Leavitt and husband Gilbert of Barrow, AK; Sharon Thompson and husband Larry of Anchorage, AK; 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, sister Bonnie Heimbuch and husband Floyd of Soldotna, AK; brother Del Aufenkamp and wife Burtis of Auburn, NE; nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.



LIFE STORY


Ernie Glenn Aufenkamp, son of Barney and Zola (Knapp) Aufenkamp was born December 2, 1937 in Nemaha, NE. He was one of five children born to this union. Ernie grew up in the Nemaha area and graduated from Auburn High School in 1954. After graduation Ernie enlisted in the Army and served his country honorably.


On January 8, 1964 Ernie was united in marriage to Josephine Aveoganna in Alaska. Together they raised 3 children. While living in Alaska Ernie managed Wein Air Alaska while the pipeline was being built. Ernie took many vacations to Hawaii and enjoyed working on model ships and working on computers.


Ernie had been failing in health for the past five years and on Thursday, January 19 he passed away in Mission, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Don and Alan Aufenkamp.
