Fern E. Catlett

Fern E. Catlett, age 85, of Auburn, NE, passed away Thursday, September 24, at Good Samaritan Society in Auburn. A funeral service for Fern Catlett will be held Tuesday, September 29, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hall Funeral Chapel in Auburn. There will be a private family interment at a later date.

Visitation and Viewing will be Monday, September 28, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.



OBITUARY
Fern Elaine DeFreece daughter of Paul DeFreece and Emma (Hilliard) DeFreece was born on May 20, 1930 in Lewiston, NE. She was one of four children.

Fern’s family moved to Auburn when she was a child she graduated from Auburn High School in 1947. She was married and raised nine children.

She was a lifetime member of the Auburn Christian Church. Fern was an active member of both the Peru V.F.W. Auxiliary and Auburn American Legion Auxiliary and was a gold star mother. Fern was the matriarch of her family and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Due to recent illness she entered hospice at Good Samaritan in Auburn and it is there that on Thursday, September 24, 2015 Fern passed away she had reached the age of 85 years, 4 months and 4 days. She was preceded in death by her parents,  brother Gene, sister Shirley Cotton and husband Vern, daughter Julie (Moe), granddaughter Paige, great-granddaughter Juliana.

She is survived by her children, Marcia Thomas of Auburn, NE; Margene Adams of Auburn, NE; Deborah Adams (Allan) of Peru, NE; Janette Catlett of Auburn, NE; Cathy Berger of Humboldt, NE; Linda Garcia of Auburn, NE; Mark Catlett ( Linda) of Auburn, NE; Tom Catlett (Joanne) of Lincoln, NE; 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, sister Marilyn Chase (Wayne) of Auburn, NE; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
