Frances Davis Obituary

Frances Pearl (Portrey) Davis, 94, of Falls City, was born on May 22, 1931, in Falls City, Nebraska to Joseph John and Pearl (Weston) Portrey.  She started her schooling in Falls City and later attended Lincoln Northeast High School in Lincoln.  Frances worked briefly at Lincoln General Hospital then Hiawatha Telephone Company, The Creamery, Crosstown Restaurant, John Hubers Café, Southside Inn and other various jobs in Falls City over the years.  She served as a Foster Grandparent at the local schools for 22 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, completing puzzles, playing scrabble and spending time with her family. She was also an animal lover and loved going for rides to explore the town and countryside. 

Frances passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of ninety-four years, nine months, and nine days.   She is preceded in death by her parents, son Robert “Robbie” J. Davis, brothers: Buddy Joe Portrey, Wayne Dorman, and Thomas Houston, sisters: Glenna Nash and Angela (Melvin) Shepherd, and sister-in-law Patsy Portrey.

Frances is survived by her loving children: Amy Snyder and husband Jim of Joplin, MO; Jenny Perryman of Nixa, MO; Joseph Yocum and wife Sandy of South Sioux City, NE; Kevin Hauck and wife Deb of Fremont, NE; Dawn Moorehead of Falls City, NE; Nancy (Robert) Phroper of Falls City, NE; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter; brothers: Frank Portrey of Rapid City, SD; Jerry Yetter of Branson, MO; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.  

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Good News Assembly of God Church, 601 Reavis Street, in Falls City, Nebraska with Pastor Tim Boatright officiating.  A Private Family Graveside Service will be held prior to services at the Maple Cemetery in Salem, Nebraska. 

Memorial contributions may be given to the Richardson County Humane Society.
