George Mackey Obituary

George Sherman Mackey, 69 years of age, of David City, formerly of Falls City was born on February 4, 1949, in Falls City, Nebraska to Clifford Eugene and Agnes Louise (Mullens) Mackey. After Clifford’s passing, Agnes married Crete Henry Motsinger who then helped raise George and older brother Daniel. George attended school in Falls City and graduated from Falls City High School with the class of 1967.  On October 9, 1967, George was united in marriage to Sheri Kathryn Gladman and to this union four children, Christene Louise, Clifford Eugene II, Katherine Stephanie, and Heidi Marie were born. He remarried in 1990 to Sharon Kay White and became a stepfather to Penny Elizabeth. For the past 11 years, George has lived in David City making a home with Linda Hamilton and her daughters Tristana Hamilton of Hastings and Misty Hamilton of David City.

 

In 1967, George worked as a mail carrier in Falls City. He then later took a job as a truck driver which he did for many years before deciding to pursue law enforcement. George attended the Grand Island Police Training Academy where he was ranked top of his class and earned his degree in Law Enforcement. He was Chief of Police in Peru and Deputy Sheriff in Richardson County. George moved to David City in 2008 where he was a heavy equipment operator and then became head of security for Valmont Industries.  George passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at David’s Place Nursing Home in David City, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of sixty-nine years, one month, and twenty-four days.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Daniel Mackey, wife Sharon Kay, and grandchildren Samantha & Savannah Mackey, and Anthony Pagnano.

 

George is survived by his children: Christene Goldsberry and husband Brian of Riverton, WY; Clifford Eugene Mackey II and wife Stacy of Hiawatha, KS; Katherine Waters and husband Samuel of Falls City, NE; Heidi Mackey of Falls City, NE; step daughter Penny Davis and husband Bill of Falls City, NE;  grandchildren: Sheridan, Sadie, BreAnna, Nick, Chazz, Sidney, Tamara, Nathan, Destiny, Ira, David, Brett, Jamie, and Chad; great grandchildren: Gabriela, Reyna, Mallory, Adalina, Auroara, Aliyah and Kohner; and many cousins and friends.  

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at The Good News Assembly of God Church, 601 Reavis Street in Falls City, Nebraska with Pastor Richard Lehmkuhl of Hiawatha officiating. 

 

Visitation will be from 9 a.m.- 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at the Hall Funeral Home in Falls City.  Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary.

 

Memorial contributions may be given to the family’s choice with a later designation.
