Gerald DuWayne (Jerry) Weisbrook was born October 25, 1930 in Auburn, NE. He was one of two sons born to Joseph and Josephine (Behrends) Weisbrook. Jerry attended school at the Auburn Public Schools and graduated in 1948. January 9, 1952 Jerry was united in marriage to Neva Blankenship in Nebraska City, NE. To this union one daughter, Geraldine Kay was born. Jerry attended the United States Army on January 15, 1952 serving his county overseas during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded four Bronze stars and a Purple Heart. He received an honorable discharge on September 26, 1953 and then returned to Auburn. Jerry then went to work on several different jobs including being a floral designer at Milams Greenhouses in Auburn. In March of 1956 he began his career with the Nebraska Department of Roads where he retired in 1992 after 36 years and 7 months of work.
Jerry loved horses and on their acreage west of Auburn he raised registered Quarter Horses and was honored as a 50 year member of the American Quarter Horse Association. Jerry was a member of the American Legion Post #23, VFW Post #2635, Disabled American Veterans and the Nemaha County Saddle Club.
Jerry passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at the Nemaha County Good Samaritan Home after reaching the age of 73 years, 11 months and 28 days. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Neva who passed away on March 13, 2003.
He is survived by his daughter Jeri Kay and husband Ermal Wilson of Rock Port, MO; two granddaughters Kassie and Melanie Wilson of Rock Port, MO; one brother Willis and wife Jeanne Weisbrook of Lincoln, NE; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
