Hazel R. Stoddard, age 99, of Auburn, NE passed away Thursday, May 08, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society of Auburn. A funeral service for Hazel R. Stoddard will be held Monday, May 12, at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn. Burial will follow at the Sheridan Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 11 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Chapel in Auburn, NE.
She is survived by her sister Helen Mordhorst of Nebraska City, NE. nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Hazel Ruth Stoddard was born August 21, 1914 on a farm northwest of Auburn, NE. Daughter of John William Stoddard and Maud (Haynes) Stoddard. She was one of eight children born to this union.
She lived and grew up in rural Auburn Hazel attended Grand Prairie Rural School thru the 8th grade. In 1942 she moved to Omaha and attended the Boyles VanZant Business School. Hazel was employed as a bookkeeper at the Ameripride Corp. in Omaha for thirty-five years and retired in 1977.
In 1954 she was baptized into the Lutheran Faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Omaha. Hazel was a very faithful person she enjoyed going to church and believed in the power of prayer.
She returned to Auburn in 1990 and transferred her membership to Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn.
Hazel was an avid reader, she enjoyed traveling, playing cards and bingo. She cherished time spent with her sister, and nieces and nephews.
Due to sudden illness in the last week, Hazel entered the hospital and then was transferred to Good Samaritan. It is there that on Thursday, May 8, 2014 Hazel passed away having reached the age of 99 years, 8 months and 17 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers William, Samuel, and Harold, by three sisters Ethel Teten, Pearl Hayes, and Irene Morrissey.
She is survived by her sister Helen Mordhorst of Nebraska City, NE; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
