Henrietta Heidzig, age 77 of Auburn, NE. Passed away Friday, August 19, at the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn, NE. Services for Henrietta Heidzig will be held Tuesday, August 23, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Paul (Hickory Grove)Lutheran Church near Auburn, NE. Interment will follow at the St. Paul (Hickory) Grove Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Monday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 7p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hall Funeral Chapel in Auburn, NE.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth Heidzig and wife Debora of Auburn, NE; Thomas and Kay Heidzig of Johnson, NE; Ronald Heidzig and wife Cathey of Loveland, CO; 6 grandchildren Heather Heidzig of Archie, MO; Sarah Kraeger and husband Bruce of Lincoln, NE; Michelle Topp and husband Jake of Tecumseh, NE; Jennifer Heidzig of Beatrice, NE; Jessica Heidzig of Loveland, CO; Jason Heidzig of Loveland,CO;, 2 sister-in-laws, Eileen Kuhlmann of Prescot, AZ; Bernitta Hiedzig of Auburn, NE.

Henrietta Josephine Ida (Oestmann )Heidzig
Daughter of Johannes E. & Emma F.(Stutheit) Oestmann was born December 28,1927 on a farm 1 mile west of St. Paul Lutheran (Hickory Grove) Church. She was the youngest of 2 daughters. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith on January 15, 1928. By Pastor Theodore Streng . Her baptism verse was “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” Mark 16:16. She was confirmed March 29, 1942 by Pastor B.C. Wiebke . Henrietta’s confirmation verse was “Commit your ways to the Lord; trust in Him and He will act.” Psalm 37:5. After the death of her father and mother, Henrietta and her sister moved to Auburn and lived there for about a year and a half. During this time she worked as a dental assistant. On February 10th 1952 Walter Heidzig and Henrietta (Oestmann) were married . Three sons, Kenneth , Thomas, and Ronald were born to this union. Henrietta and Walt lived south of Auburn for a year and then moved to her home place 1 mile west of Hickory Grove and were there for 13 years. They later moved back to the farm south of Auburn and lived there for 27 years. They continued to live on the same farmstead until 1993 when they moved into Auburn. Henrietta was a life long member of St. Paul Lutheran (Hickory Grove) Church. She was the parish secretary for Hickory Grove, taught Sunday school for 12 years, taught Vacation Bible School and served as Superintendent for many years. Henrietta was a charter member of the Priscilla Circle and held various offices in the Hickory Grove women’s groups. Henrietta served as the Stewardship secretary and president of the ALCW Southeast NE. She was also the Conference and Conference Coordinator for the Women of the ELCA of southeast NE Conference and Heartland Women of the Word Coordinator. In 1985 Henrietta went to Mexico with a group of 21 other Conference Hunger Coordinators and Taskforce members for 11 days to tour and observe the hunger in Mexico. Henrietta spent countless hours volunteering for many organizations. She served on the Advisory Board for Neighbor to Neighbor; a Faith in Action program sponsored by Martin Luther Homes, Inc. In 1998 she became project director for the Neighbor to Neighbor program in Nemaha County. After suffering a stroke Henrietta entered Nemaha County Good Samaritan in Auburn on May 23, 2005, were she started a Bible Study Group. Henrietta passed away on Friday, August 19, 2005 at the Nemaha County Hospital in Auburn. She had reached the age of 77 years, 7 months and 22 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter and sister Lucina Oestmann. Those left to mourn her passing are her children, Kenneth Heidzig and wife Debora of Auburn, NE; Thomas and wife Kay Heidzig of Johnson, NE; Ronald Heidzig and wife Cathey of Loveland, CO; 6 grandchildren Heather Heidzig of Archie, MO; Sarah Kraeger and husband Bruce of Lincoln, NE; Michelle Topp and husband Jake of Tecumseh, NE; Jennifer Heidzig of Beatrice, NE; Jessica Heidzig of Loveland, CO; Jason Heidzig of Loveland,CO; 2 sister-in-laws, Eileen Kuhlmann of Prescott, AZ and Bernitta Heidzig of Auburn, NE.
