Jamie Marie Cook

Jamie Marie Cook, 56, of Falls City, Nebraska was born during a winter storm on January 25, 1969, in Shakopee, Minnesota to James “Jim” and Mary Jo (Morgan) Cook.  Her family moved to St. Peter, Minnesota when Jamie was six weeks old, and moved to live in Fairmont, Minnesota from 1974-1975.  The family moved back to St. Peter in 1975 and lived there until moving to Grand Island, Nebraska in 1985 when Jamie was a sophomore.   As a young girl, Jamie was very active in gymnastics.  She attended many gymnastic camps and competed for many years until high school. Jamie attended Grand Island Northwest High School in Nebraska and graduated with the class of 1988.  She then continued her education by attending classes at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.

In the summer of 1994, Jamie was united in marriage to Scott Zierenberg.  To this union four children, Jorrae, Tierra, Jerret, and Kinnly were born.  The couple would later divorce.  In August of 2018, Jamie met the love of her life, Jeff Stafford and the couple made their home in Falls City, Nebraska.  While living in Falls City, Jamie was employed at Coperion and truly loved the relationships she formed with her work friends.  She enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening, painting, and taking pictures.  Jamie loved sunflowers, Monarch butterflies, and her babies (Huskie dogs), “Bandit” and “Annabelle”.  In March of 2025, Jamie was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed away at her home in Falls City, Nebraska on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Jeff was by her side through her courageous battle and was holding her hand until the end. She is preceded in death by her father James “Jim” Cook in May of 2023.

Jamie is survived by her significant other Jeff Stafford of Falls City, NE; her children: Jorrae Zierenberg of Omaha, Tierra Zierenberg of Lincoln, Jerret Zierenberg and wife Emily of Topeka, KS; Kinnly Zierenberg of Lincoln, her mother Mary Jo Cook of Grand Island, NE; brothers: Sean (Jeni) Cook and their kids Tyler (Megan), Hunter, Tanner, and Mya; Erin (Ashley) Cook and their kids Garrett and Maebry all of Grand Island, NE; and many other friends and family.

A Celebration of Jamie’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Elks Lodge 963, 1417 Stone Street in Falls City, Nebraska. 

Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Calvary Cemetery in St. Peter, Minnesota. 

Memorial contributions are suggested to the family’s choice with a later designation.
