Jesse C. Barker, age 101, of Shubert, NE. passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at his home in Shubert, NE; A funeral service for Jesse C. Barker will be held Friday, January 27, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hall Funeral Chapel in Auburn, NE; Burial will follow at the Prairie Union Cemetery near Shubert, NE.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 26, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. There will be a Rosary held Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Chapel in Auburn, NE.
He is survived by his wife Elsie Barker of Shubert, NE; Daughter Audrey (Betty) Curbow of Vancouver, WA; son Jeff Barker and wife Mary of Shubert, NE; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren. two sisters Ena Jones of Fort Bragg, CA; June Johnson of Avoca, NE. neices, nephews other relatives and many friends.

Obituary Jesse Courtney Barker son of Jesse W. Barker and Cora (Chandler) Barker was born December 8, 1904 on a farm in Nemaha County that his ancestors settled on around 1850. He was one of 9 children born to this union.
Jesse’s family Homesteaded a farm in Sioux County in northwest Nebraska in March of 1907. There they lived in a sod house for five years. They recieved 640 acres and sold it for $3.00 an acre. They moved back to Richardson County in 1912. Jesse attended both the Boatman and Hillsdale country schools and graduated the 10th grade in Nemaha, NE. He was united in marriage to Elsie Shubert on November 29, 1926 and together they raised two children. This year they had been married 79 years. Jesse worked many jobs through out his life farming and electrical work. During WWII from 1943 to 1945 Jesse worked at the Air Force Base in Omaha for the Glen L. Martin Bomber Plant. Jesse lived in and around Shubert most of his life, he was a devoted husband and loving father.
Jesse had been in failing health the past year and on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 having reached the age of 101 years old Jesse passed away at his home in Shubert, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, 3 brothers. Those left to mourn his passing are his wife Elsie Barker of Shubert, NE; daughter Audrey (Betty) Curbow of Vancouver, WA; son Jeff Barker and wife Mary of Shubert, NE; 8 grand children, 6 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, two sisters Ena Jones of Fort Bragg CA; June Johnson of Avoca, NE; nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
