Jimmie Dean Rowland, 89, of Salem, Nebraska was born on October 22, 1935, in Salem, Nebraska to Pete Eugene and Rosa Bell (Randell) Rowland. He was raised in southeast Nebraska in the communities of Pawnee City and Salem where he received all his schooling. On July 30, 1954, Jimmie entered active-duty status in the United States Air Force in Omaha, Nebraska and served his country until his honorable discharge on January 27, 1958, at Manhattan Beach Air Force Station in Brooklyn, New York.
In 1960, Jimmie was united in marriage to Doris Miller in Emporia, Kansas. To this union three sons, Richard, Dennis and Merle were born. The couple lived and raised their family in Salem, Nebraska. Jimmie drove truck most of his working career and farmed a bit on the side. While trucking, Jimmie was well known for his CB handle “Wheels” or “Smoke”. After his wife Doris passed away in 2014, Jimmie remained a resident of Salem until his recent health decline.
Jimmie passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025, at the St. Elizabeth’s Regional Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of eighty-nine years, ten months and seventeen days. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Doris (Miller) Rowland, brothers: Pete, Richard, Edward, Melvin, Lloyd, and an infant brother Donald Rowland, and sisters-in-law: Betty, Wilma Jean, and Billy Jean Rowland.
Jimmie is survived by his sons: Richard Rowland and wife Clara of Falls City, Dennis Rowland of Salem, Merle Rowland and wife Joy of Salem, NE; grandson Jermiah Eppens of Falls City, step grandchildren: Kenneth Harrell of Kansas, Misty Baker of Parsons, KS; Joy Lynn of Wichita, KS; Karen Davis and husband Jesse of Beatrice, NE; Jason Hall and wife Taylor of Wichita, KS; numerous step great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Vonnie Rowland of Salem, NE; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Private Family Inurnment will be at the Maple Cemetery in Salem, Nebraska at a later date.
Memorial Contributions may be given to the family with a later designation.
