June “Johnny” L. (Johnson) Rhoades, 95, of Auburn, Nebraska was born on June 7, 1930, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Clarence and Vera (Hatton) Johnson. She was raised in Minneapolis where she received her schooling and graduated from Excelsior High School with the class of 1948. Johnny entered the U.S. Army in 1948 where she believed she would get college money. She met and began dating Sgt. Fletcher “Dusty” Rhoades in May of 1949 and the couple were united in marriage on June 17, 1950. Johnny left the Army due to giving birth to son Jimmie on February 19, 1952. She spent time with family and friends and made new friends with members of the Army community. Johnny continued working until she and her husband decided to retire in 1976. The couple enjoyed retired life until Fletcher’s passing in July of 2011. Johnny settled back in Auburn, Nebraska, her husband’s hometown
Johnny passed away due to natural causes on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Auburn, Nebraska having reached the earthly age of 95 years, 9 months, and 13 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Fletcher “Dusty” Rhoades, and sister Shirley Schultz.
Johnny is survived by her loving son Jimmie Rhoades, and many other cherished relatives and friends.
Memorial contributions may be given to the family in memory of Johnny with a later designation.
