Lee R. Casey, son of Roy Casey and Ruby Waggoner Casey, was born on October 11, 1927 in Johnson, Nebraska. He was one of three children born to this union.



Lee was raised in Johnson. He graduated from Johnson High School in 1945. Lee attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, and Peru Sate College. After fulfilling the necessary requirements, he entered the College of Mortuary Sciences in St. Louis, Missouri graduating in the spring of 1948. After graduation, Lee served as the Mayor of Johnson as well as president of the Chamber of Commerce.



Lee entered the United States Army in 1951, serving his country in Korea. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Johnson and entered into the funeral business with his father and brother Allan.



On September 25, 1955, Lee was married to Helen Dettmer. After their marriage, they made their home in Auburn and were blessed with two children.



Lee has been active in the community, serving as president of the Auburn Rotary Club, the Jaycees and the Country Club. Lee was a 50-year member of the American Legion, a member of the VFW, the Eagles Aerie #3767, and the O.E.S. of Brownville Chapter 263. Lee served on the Auburn City Council for 34 years.



Lee passed away on February 19, 2005 reaching the age of 77 years, 4 months and 8 days. He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to mourn his passing are his wife Helen Casey of Auburn, daughter Pam and husband Tim McNally of Omaha, son Daniel L. and wife Tammy Casey of Lincoln, NE, grandchildren Travis L Moody of Omaha, Nikki and husband Danny Hayes of Auburn, Dustin Casey of Lincoln, great granddaughter Annie Jo Hayes, brother Allan and wife Margie Casey of Lincoln, sister Pat Rogge of Johnson, sister-in-law LuEtta Dettmer of Auburn, Bernice and husband Frank Waniska of Omaha, Alma Dettmer of Auburn, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
