Leon Campbell Obituary
Leon C. Campbell, age 69, of Falls City, NE, passed away Thursday, January 23, at the Falls City Community Medical Center. A funeral service for Leon C. Campbell will be held Tuesday, January 28, at 11:30 a.m. at the First Church of Nazarene in Falls City, burial will follow at the Steele Cemetery in Falls City.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 26, from 12 to 8 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home in Falls City, and Monday January 27, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Nazarene Church with family greeting friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
OBITUARY
Leon C. Campbell son of Homer Willis Campbell and Leota (Eckley) Campbell was born on January 9, 1945 in Horton, KS. He was one of 7 children born to this union.
Leon lived on the Iowa reservation until nine years old when his family moved to Rulo, NE. Leon graduated from Reserve High School in 1963. He was united in marriage to Sally Miner on June 20, 1964. Together they raised three sons and one foster son.
Leon had various jobs as a young man and in 1984 was elected Chairman of the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska, working with Casino White Cloud for six years. He was continually re-elected as Chairman till 2009.
Due to ongoing illness Leon entered the Hospital in Falls City it is there that on Thursday, January 23 Leon passed away. He had reached the age of 69 years, and 14 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sally in 2009, sister Irma Wooten, brothers Harvey Campbell, Harlan (Butch) Campbell, and Norman Campbell, daughter-in-law Diane (Elsberry) Campbell, foster son Tyrone Popejoy, and great-granddaughter Reagan Jacobs.
Leon is survived by his children, Tim Campbell (Rita) of Falls City, NE; Brad Campbell (Jennifer) of Falls City, NE; Bobby Campbell (Missy) of Rulo, NE; two sisters Janice Ramer (Gary) of Hiawatha, KS; Pat King of Havensville, KS; nine grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 4 foster grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
