Lora Eugenie (Idler) Neddenriep passed away at her home on March 25, 2026, having reached the age of 102 years, 6 months, 7 days. Lora was born in Rotenberg-Stuttgart, Germany on September 18, 1923, to Theodore and Berta (Berner) Idler. She was baptized as an infant in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rotenberg.
In November 1923, Theodore, Berta and baby Lora emigrated from Germany to the United States. After processing through Ellis Island, they settled near Nebraska City, Nebraska. A few years later they moved to a farm near Tecumseh, Nebraska.
Lora graduated from the 8th grade from Brush Hill rural school. She was confirmed in her Christian faith as a teenager at St. Paul’s (Maple Grove) Church south of Tecumseh and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1941.
In 1942 the Idler family moved to a farm near St. Joseph, Missouri. While in St. Joseph, Lora worked for six years at the Chase Candy Company.
Lora married Vernon D. Neddenriep of Brock, Nebraska on February 21, 1948. They were blessed with two children, Donald and Dorothea. In 1954 they moved from the family farm near Brock to a farm west of Johnson. Lora was a true partner with Vernon in the farming operation. She helped with everything from caring for the livestock, to driving trucks and tractors, to keeping books, to raising a large garden, to delivering meals to the fields, to cooking for the haying crews.
Lora was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church near Johnson, NE for 76 years. She served in various roles until her health began to fail. She also volunteered at the Good Samaritan Society in Auburn. Lora enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, fishing, and socializing with friends. She thoroughly enjoyed four trips to Europe to visit relatives.
Lora was preceded in death by parents, her husband of 56 years, her son Don and daughter-in-law Lois, her sister Anneliese Griffith and her brother Alfred Idler.
Lora is survived by her daughter Dorothea (Helmut) Welke; five grandchildren, Katie (Mike) Hall, Jonathan (Serene) Neddenriep, Eric (Gina) Welke, Brian (Christina Grau) Welke and Michelle (Yonadav) Fleury; nine great-grandchildren, River, Pax, Zenith, Savannah, Greyson, Jackson, Lynnston, Kezia and Covany; nieces, Patricia Griffith and Lisa Keiser, nephews, Mike (Robin) Griffith and Nelson Griffith, numerous extended family and many friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the former Zion Lutheran Church near Johnson, Nebraska. Inurnment will immediately follow services at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery with lunch to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Zion Lutheran Cemetery or charity of your choice.
