Merle “Mac” D. Morris, 92 years of age, of Auburn passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society in Auburn. He was born on June 17, 1927 in Nebraska City to John and Dora (Snyder) Morris. Mac attended Brock High School. He served in the United States Navy from June 1, 1945 to August 7, 1946. Mac married Willa Roberts on April 25, 1947 in Hiawatha, Kansas. He worked several places including Rutledge Machine Works, Talmage Implement Company, Mobil Oil Company, Leuders Oil Company and drove a school bus for many years. Mac was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Brock Volunteer Fire Department and helped start the Avenue of Flags. He enjoyed Nebraska Football and Volleyball and coffee with friends.
Mac is survived by his daughter, Linda Morris of Grant; brother, Larry Morris and wife Beth of Pikeville, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Willa on February 17, 2016; 3 brothers; and 4 sisters.
Graveside Services will be held at Noon on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Lafayette Cemetery near Brock with Pastor Jackie Gfeller officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Hall Funeral Chapel in Auburn and also 30 minutes prior to graveside services at the cemetery on Sunday. Memorials are suggested to the Good Samaritan Society in Auburn, Brock Christian Church, Brock Volunteer Fire Department, Auburn Fire and Rescue or the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
