Mona (Rose) Ely, age 89, of Auburn, NE, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at her home in Auburn. Funeral services for Mona Ely will be held Saturday, May 21, at 2:30 a.m. at the Auburn Christian Church in Auburn, NE. Committal Service will be at the Sheridan Memorial Cemetery, near Auburn, NE.
Viola Snodgrass Rose Ely
Mona Viola Snodgrass daughter of Roy Willard Snodgrass and Evelyn Eliza (Black) Snodgrass was born on December 27, 1915 in Valentine, Nebraska. She was one of nine children born to this marriage. Mona’s family lived in Valentine and when Mona was two years old her family returned to Brock, NE,. She attended school at Brock and graduated in 1934. She was united in marriage to Edward Wayne Rose on August 27 1939 in Brock, NE; to this union five children were born. Together Wayne and Mona made their home in Auburn, NE. where they lived their entire life except for three years in L.A. California. Wayne passed away on January 15, 1976. on September 14, 1981. Mona was married to Charles “ Buzz” Ely in Leavenworth, KS. Buzz passed away September 12, 1987. Mona was an active member of the Auburn Christian Church, she belonged to the Mary Martha Circle, American Legion Auxiliary, and was a member of the Nemaha County Museum Board. Mona passed away Tuesday May 17, 2005 at her home in Auburn, NE. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, one infant son, Richard, and five brothers. She is survived by her children, Gerald Rose of Bella Vista, Ark; Julie Ann Worster of Lincoln, NE; Neal Rose of Stillwater, MN; Roybert Rose of Atlantic, IA; Dale Rose of Lincoln, NE; step-son Michael Ely of Kansas City, MO; 11 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, sister Wanda Sandreson of Baytown, TX; 2 brothers (Delmar) Buzz Snograss of Papillion, NE; Gerald Snograss of Wichita, KS.
Visitation was scheduled for Friday, May 20, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. . at the Hall Funeral Chapel in Auburn, NE.
