Patricia Westerfield Obituary

Patricia Lee Westerfield, 85, of Julian, Nebraska was born on January 25, 1939, to George William and Eva Ruth (Keller) Andes and grew up on the family farm near Maitland, Missouri. She graduated from Maitland High School in 1956 and attended college for a short time in Maryville, Missouri. She met her husband John while working in Steamboat Springs and they were married June 21, 1960, in Craig, Colorado. To this union four children were born.  They lived in Alliance, Omaha, San Fransisco, and Lincoln before settling in Julian, Nebraska to be closer to family. Patricia was a stay-at-home mom until her children were raised before going back to work outside of the home. She went back to school and got her RN license from Bryan School of Nursing in Lincoln.  Patricia worked at the Nebraska City Manor for over 20 years before retiring. Bored with retirement after a few months, she went back to work for several more years at Colonial Acres Nursing Home in Humboldt, before finally retiring for good in 2014.

Patricia enjoyed many hobbies through her life including gardening, cooking, sewing, knitting, bowling, singing, as well as being an avid reader. She was a past Sunday school teacher, 4-H leader, involved in Extension clubs, lady's Bible study, and enjoyed time visiting with family, friends, and her cats Frankie and Old Yeller.  Patricia passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at her home in Julian, Nebraska after a six-month battle with cancer.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; and brothers-in-law: Rick Prather, Darrell Beason, and Duane Keown.
