Roland K. Sherman, age 77, of Peru, NE. passed away Sunday, June 25, 2006 at the Bryan LGH West Hospital in Lincoln, NE; A memorial service for Roland K. Sherman will be held Wednesday, June 28, at 10:00 a.m. at the Hall Funeral Chapel in Auburn, NE; Inurnment will follow at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Peru, NE.

Family and friends may sign the register at the Hall Funeral Chapel Tuesday, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

He is survived by his wife Jean Sherman of Peru, NE; children Kathy Moyer and husband Lee of Auburn, NE; Mary Bacon and husband Richard of Humboldt, NE; Bob Sherman and wife Barbara Ann of Peru, NE; Barbara Mikkelsen and friend James of Auburn, NE; Chuck Sherman of Wahoo, NE; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great- grandchildren, brothers Tom Sherman of Marquette, NE; Henry Sherman and wife Doris of Pierre, SD; sister Mayme Adams of Auburn, NE.

OBITUARY

ROLAND KENNETH SHERMAN

Roland Kenneth Sherman, son of George Earl Sherman and Elizabeth (Darrow) Sherman was born December 19, 1928 in Peru, NE. He was one of ten children born to this marriage.

Roland was raised in Peru, NE and graduated from the TJ Major Training School in Peru. Roland was united in marriage to Hazle Jean Jones on February 27, 1948 in Auburn, NE. Together they raised 5 children; Kathy, Mary, Lee, Barbara & Chuck.

Roland was a Boy Scout leader, and he especially enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and being a part of nature. He had a special knack for the Rubix Cube and puzzles.

Roland’s life ended on June 25, 2006 at his home in Peru. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 1 grandson and 1 great-grandson.

Those left to mourn his passing are his wife Jean Sherman of Peru, NE; children Kathy Moyer and husband Lee of Auburn, NE; Mary Bacon and husband Richard of Humboldt, NE; Bob Sherman and wife Barbara Ann of Peru, NE Barbara Mikkelsen and friend James of Auburn, NE and Chuck Sherman of Wahoo, NE; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers Tom Sherman of Marquette, NE; Henry Sherman and wife Doris of Pierre, SD and sister Mayme Adams of Auburn, NE; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
