Obituary
Sally Anne (Ballue) Hannaford daughter of George Ballue and Lois (Vice) Ballue was born May 27, 1941 in Auburn, Nebraska. She was one of 4 children born to this marriage.
Sally grew up in the Brownville area and attended school in Brownville and then in Nemaha. She graduated high school in 1959. That same year she was united in marriage to Martin D. Hannaford on January 23 in Seneca, KS. Sally and Duane raised 3 children together.
Sally and Duane lived on the outside edge of Peru until 1970 when they purchased the farm where the presently live. She was a member of the Mt. Vernon Cemetery Association and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Sally enjoyed making Sunday dinners for all of her family to enjoy and baking cakes and cookies for her grandchildren. She was an animal lover and had many cats and dogs. The most precious of which was her beloved dog “Maggie” whom passed away a short time ago, fighting the battle of cancer along side of Sally. As her health declined she enjoyed sitting at her window watching the hummingbirds fly or watching Walker Texas Ranger on her kitchen television. Sally will be remembered as a loving and nurturing wife, mother and grandmother.
Sally had been failing in health for the past 8 years and she lost her battle peacefully at her home on November 10, 2005 having reached the age of 64 years, 5 months and 14 days. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Those left to mourn her passing are her husband Martin Duane Hannaford of Peru, NE; Children Marty and wife Beth Hannaford of Brownville, NE, Scott and wife Dee Hannaford of Hemmingford, NE and Sue and husband David Arnett of Ottawa, KS; grandchildren Blake and Tonya Reker; Brooke and Briley Hannaford and Jonathan, Tessa and Trevor Hannaford; Sisters Judy and husband Howard Hayes of Lincoln, NE and Roberta and husband Jim Smith of Brownville, NE; brother Robert and wife Helen Ballue of Overton, NE; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
