Shelly Myers Obituary

Shelly K. (Smith) Myers, age 52, of Brownville, NE, passed away suddenly Thursday, February 18, 2016. A funeral service for Shelly Myers will be held Friday, February 26, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hall Funeral Chapel in Auburn, NE. Burial will follow at the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Brownville, NE. Rev. Dr. Robert Chitwood officiating. Memorials to Brownville Christian Church and Nebraska Organ Donation

Viewing and visitation will be Thursday, February 25, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home with family greeting friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Shelly K. (Smith) Myers

Shelly Kay Smith daughter of James O. Smith and Roberta L. (Ballue) Smith was born in Auburn, NE on December 2, 1963. Shelly was raised in Brownville, NE attended Locust Grove Elementary School and graduated from Auburn High School. She was baptized into the Christian faith in 1983 at the Brownville Christian Church.

Shelly then attended Kearney State College and earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Physical Education and Recreational Leadership for the Aged. She then attended Colby Community College where she earned her Associates Degree of Applied Science as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Shelly worked as a Physical Therapy Assistant at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Lincoln Orthopedic Physical Therapy, Rehab Visions, Montgomery County Hospital, Red Oak, IA; and Physical and Respiratory Therapy Services at Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh.

Shelly met the love of her life Timothy Myers and they were married on February 19, 2005. Shelly and Tim were very active with the (SCA) Society for Creative Anachronism. They attended local, regional and national events, creating and crafting jewelry for the events costumes.
Shelly had a passion for the arts of painting and crafts. Shelly and Tim enjoyed making an assortment of jewelry. She also had a passion for cooking. But most of all, she had a strong love for her family. Her nieces, nephews and great niece and nephews were her children she never had.

In November of 2014 Tim suffered serious injury in a fall at their home in Bellevue, NE. Tim passed away at the age of 52. Shelly moved back to Brownville to be close to family and on Thursday, February 18, 2016 Shelly suddenly passed away also at the age of 52. Shelly was a caring, loving and generous person who cherished her time spent with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband Tim, nephew Henry Cotton, and Father-in-law Dwayne Myers.

Shelly is survived by her parents, James (Salty) and Roberta Smith of Brownville, NE; sister Kelly Ragan and husband Travis of Leavenworth, KS; brother James F. Smith and wife Jesse of Peru, NE; mother-in-law Linda Myers of Auburn, NE; brothers-in-law Tom Myers of Kansas City, KS; and Sam Myers of Texas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
