Vernon Neddenriep Obituary

Vernon Duane Neddenriep, son of Martin Henry Neddenriep and Anna Elizabeth (Hahn) Neddenriep, was born in Brock, NE on May 24, 1924. He was one of five children.

He was baptized into the Lutheran fatih at Zion Lutheran Church as an infant and was confirmed in 1938 by Pastor Rienche. He was raised in Brock and graduated from Brock High School in 1942.

Vernon served his country in the United States Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged May of 1946. He was united in marriage to Lora Eugenie Idler on February 21, 1948 and together they raised a son and a daughter.

Vernon and Lora lived in Brock five years after their marriage and then moved to Johnson where they have lived ever since. Vernon farmed west of Johnson until his retirement in 1989. Over the years he was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church serving on the cemetery board. He also served on the Johnson and Johnson-Brock School Boards. Vernon was also a member of the Bender-Reese American Legion Post #330.

Vernon was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. Due to ongoing illness, Vernon entered Bryan LGH East in the last week and it is there that he passed away having reached the ageo of 80 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Dale and one sister Helen.

Those left to mourn his passing are his wife Lora Neddenriep of Johnson, NE; son Donald and wife Lois of Colorado Springs, CO; daugher Dorothea Welke and husband Helmut of Bettendorf, IA; grandchildren: Katie Ellen Hall and husband Michael; Jonathan Michael Neddenriep; Eric Helmut Welke; Brian Martin Welke and Michelle Lynn Welke; brother Glen Neddenriep and wife Eileen of Johnson, NE; sister Bernice Evans of Lawrence, KS; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
