William “Bill” Asa McGinnis, 72, of Rulo, Nebraska passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021, at his home in Rulo. He was born on July 24, 1949, in Falls City, Nebraska to Qualls and Mildred “Babe” (Cornford) McGinnis. Bill was raised on the farm south of Falls City and attended District #75 country school. He later attended Falls City High School. On August 31, 1966, Bill was inducted in Omaha, Nebraska into active duty for the U.S. Army. He served as a medic and paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War until being honorably discharged on July 30, 1968. After his service to his country, Bill returned home and made his home in Rulo, Nebraska in later years.
Bill is survived by his daughters: Anne White of Lincoln, Sarah McGinnis of Tecumseh, NE; son Daniel Mackey of Omaha, 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, sisters: Barb Voegele and husband Doug of Falls City, Sarah Smith and husband Jim of Falls City, a brother Patrick “Sonny” McGinnis of Falls City and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Amy Beth McGinnis.
Per his request, no services are scheduled at this point. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date.
